Configurations
True French Door Configurations
SunClad™ True French Door Configurations
SunClad True French Inswing Doors are two panel door units. One panel is the main operating panel that opens using typical handle operation. The other is a secondary panel that can be opened for wider clearance. The handle for this panel activates the head and foot bolt latch system. You may choose which panel is the main opening panel when you order your door. Simply specify Left or Right, as viewed from the exterior. SunClad True French Doors are available in both Inswing and Outswing versions.

True French Doors require stud framing on both sides of the unit. Therefore, additional window or door units cannot be mulled directly to the sides of the True French Door (see note below). Sidelites, or additional window and door units, may be used beside the door when framed separately. Transoms, Round Tops and Arch Top units can be mulled above most True French door units. For shipping and handling reasons, the main restriction is that the overall combined unit width cannot exceed 12' and the height cannot exceed 8'. Larger combinations may be mulled together on site. Please note that mulled units are not designed to take the place of structural framing. In some instances it is better to order your units "aligned with" but not mulled together. This means that they will be built with the proper grille alignment to be installed beside or above each other, but the wall will have structural framing separating the units into smaller combinations or single units. More information on combination units is available under Mulls and Mulling.
Note: disregarding this limitation will void the product warranty.

SDL
SDL or Simulated Divided Lite, is an aluminum grille bar permanently applied to the exterior glass surface and a wood grille permanently applied to the interior glass surface. A black shadow bar is sealed between the glass. This simulates old divided lite windows without sacrificing the benefits of a single insulated glass unit. Available in 5/8", 1" , 1-1/4" and 2-1/4" (simulated mull) wide profiles.
SCR
Simulated Check Rail is a variation of our SDL using a wide 2-1/4" bar horizontally across a Casement or Fixed Lite window to simulate the look of a Double Hung window.
SM
Simulated Mull is another variation of our SDL using a wide 2-1/4" bar vertically. One or two of these can be placed in the center of a wide Casement or Fixed Lite to simulate the look of two windows joined together or two sashes side by side.
Wood Grille (Push-Pin style)
This removable wood grille mounts to the window interior. Grille clips with push-pin points slide in notches at the end of each grille bar to fasten the grille to the window. Removing the grille makes it easier to clean the glass. Wood grilles are available in 1" and 1-1/4" wide profiles.
Wood Grille (Surround style)
Also available is a wood surround grille that has wood frame around the perimeter of the grille. This inserts into the daylight opening of the sash and is held in place by an anchor pin.
GBG
GBG (Grilles Between Glass) are 3/4" contoured profiled aluminum grilles sealed within the insulated glass unit for no-maintenance convenience. Available in White, Vanilla, Beige, Sand, Bronze, Black, Green and Red colors. They are also available in two color combinations (one color facing the interior the other facing the exterior) of White/Sand and White/Bronze. |

Blinds Between The Glass
Blinds Between The Glass Options for Doors
Blinds Between The Glass
Many SunClad Doors are available with Blinds between the glass. Sun offers two different blind systems that are compatible with our doors, each with it own benefits and limitations. In general, blinds between the glass offer the privacy and adjustable daylight control that typical add-on blinds provide with additional benefit of minimal exposure of the blinds to the indoor environment. This can help protect your blinds from dust and handling damage. However, when blinds are placed between the glass, you loose the ability to have a grille system.
A) Raise & Lower Sealed IG Blinds
A Blind system that is sealed within the insulated glass unit. This is a raise and lower blind that is opened (tilt the blind slats) by a magnetic operator located at the top of the glass. A side mounted operator raises and lowers the blind. Available on SunClad™ Casement and Fixed Lite windows and on SunClad™ Doors.
Slat Color = White
Tilt Operator Color = White
Raise/Lower Operator Color = White
B) Tilt Only Sealed IG Blinds
Also available is a variation of our sealed IG Blind system that tilts only. A magnetic operator located at the top of the glass opens (tilts) the blind slats. Available on SunClad™ Casement and Fixed Lite windows and on SunClad™ Doors.
Slat Colors = White, Alabaster, Sand, Gold
Tilt Operator Color = White
Notes:
1. No grilles are available when Blinds are used
2. No ClimaGuard Low-E or SPF gkass is available on types A & B
3. Energy Advantage Low-E glass is available on types A & B

Product Combinations
SunClad™ products can be combined with companion products to form special feature windows or window and door combinations. SunClad™ products are designed so that they can be easily grouped together to form multi-unit configurations. These configurations can be as simple as combining two units together, side by side, to form a 2-wide unit, or as complex as combining multiple units of various styles and shapes to form a special feature window wall. Send us your ideas and we will help you configure your special combination.
Mulled Unit Dimensions
When mulling SunClad products together, the over-all unit size can be determined by adding the product unit sizes together. For combinations of 3 units or more, an incidental gain may occur. Increase the Rough Opening dimension by 1/8" for 3 units or 3/16" for four units.
Mulled Unit Restrictions
The maximum over-all size for a factory mulled unit cannot exceed 12' by 8' (vertical or horizontal).
Maximum units wide = 5
Maximum units high = 4
Maximum Door Mulled Unit = 6-0 x 6-8 with Call Height 12 Transom
No units can be mulled to the sides of True French Doors. Use separate framing.
Exterior Mull Covers
Exterior Mull Covers for mulling windows on the job site. Include exterior mull cover only. (Installation is not provided).
