Our Series 2020 All-Vinyl Awning window is similar to a Casement window, except the sash opens outward from the bottom of the window with pivot points near the top.

A dual lever latching system releases the left and right side sash latches. Side-mounted glide hinges put the pivot point near the top of the window. A folding operator handle accesses the crank-out mechanism to open and close the sash.
Sash Snubbers are used to prevent sash bowing when the window is in the closed position.
Interior Screen Channel
Awning windows feature an interior screen mounting channel that can be used to hold an optional screen to help keep out insects when the sash is open. See Screen Options for information about compatible screen systems.
Jamb Depth
The jamb depth is 2” from the nailing fin. Overall jamb depth without the nailing fin is 3-1/4”. Jamb extensions increase the jamb depth to 4-9/16". See Jamb Options for more information.

Sun Vinyl extrusions have a heavy wall thickness, as well as multi-chambered designs, including a double-walled glazing lip, that contains more vinyl material than many of our competitors. This helps Sun vinyl windows be stronger and more durable than thinner, cheaper windows.
An extruded aluminum exterior casing and trim system is available on our clad windows and doors to enhance the visual appeal of the windows and doors. Available in a variety of trim and casing profiles, these extrusions add a dimensional accent to the product and the home or building.
Exterior Trim OptionsCommon configurations include an Awning with a Fixed Lite above it or up to four Awnings mulled on top of each other. Other combinations are possible.

Full Opening Ventilation
An awning window sash can be opened fully to provide ventilation through the entire window opening. Compare this to a double-hung window, which can only open to expose less than half the entire window opening. This is a nice benefit for those who enjoy letting in the fresh air.
Interior Screen Mounting Channel
Like the casement, awning windows feature an interior-mounted screen option. The interior vinyl has a channel that helps to hold the screen in place when installed. If you like to open your windows to allow in the fresh air, a screen can help keep insects from coming in through the opening.
